'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alexander Utterly Disappointed

Manager Graham Alexander has admitted he is thoroughly disappointed following our loss to Burton Albion in the FA Cup tonight.

Fleetwood had a reasonable penalty shout turned down, but Billy Kee again popped up to halt our progression through to the next round as he did in the last game, but this time round unfortunately we couldn't get the equaliser ourselves to make more of a match of it.

Speaking to the Official Site following the one nil loss, the gaffer provided a concise view of how he saw the game for us.

'It was very disappointing. The first 45 minutes was none existent from us. We didn't compete and ask any questions of their back four. We brought the problems onto ourselves and gave Burton the goal.'

He more pleased with the second half, but that isn't saying much commenting that we upped the tempo and competed better, and that is all he can ask, it's just a shame it took us 45 minutes and to be behind before we did that and for him that is the biggest disappointment of the night because 'we let ourselves down.'

The manager goes on to try and not over analyse why we were so off the pace, but does say maybe the way we lost the victory in the previous game had affected the team's focus and belief for this repeat challenge, or maybe it was just a game too soon following our efforts at Rochdale despite him making changes.

For him though the reasons don't actually matter, because in professional football you just can't let a performance like that happen and we are having a few moments like this this term.

Certainly got something to think about before our next game in terms of selections.

I'm gutted, as I really did see this as a good chance to progress in the FA Cup. Nevermind, we concentrate on League 2 now and make up for it over the festive period!
