'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alexander Post Wimbledon

Manager Graham Alexander was relatively pleased with our whole hearted display against Wimbledon last time out, but reserved special praise for the for the efforts and support of the fans during the match.

Despite being unable to break the deadlock in the game it was at least a good reaction to the huge disappointment of the four nil loss to Plymouth in our last game which everyone was hoping for, although a return to winning ways would've been better at this stage.

Speaking to the Official Site following the match, Alexander explained.

'We looked solid and the lads worked their socks off for the team. They showed they care which is a massive positive for me and for the supporters. We grew into the game as time went on and we created a couple of great goal scoring opportunities.'

The gaffer admits that it was a building process following the Plymouth result, and the team had to in many ways get back to basics and do the simple things properly and we managed that with a good performance, a clean sheet, but there is that tinge of disappointment because we wanted to win the game and take all three points.

For him though, we now go into the next match with something to build on again, and they will be looking to build on this result with a maximum return so we can put ourselves back into the middle of the mix in the play off spots and then hopefully get ourselves back within touching distance of the automatic places as that is still our aim.

Again following on from the last result, Alexander was also pleased to see the team give the fans something to cheer about and get behind, and although that wasn't a win, he feels the faithful's 'fantastic support' especially when we struggled at points during the game was a reflection that they saw the players putting the effort in.

A definite improvement from the Plymouth debacle but we're still in a slump.
