Cod Army Preview: Newport County v Fleetwood

Cod Army Preview: Newport County v Fleetwood

Newport County and Fleetwood try again, previously this League 2 fixture hasn't been able to go ahead but unless something drastic happens they'll meet at Rodney Parade tonight.

There will be a few absentees due to injury but it's not expected that Newport are going to have any fresh injury concerns after a weekend draw with Scunthorpe.

Rene Howe, Max Porter and Lee Minshull all played a part in that draw and will be hoping they did enough to keep places in the side.

Those continued injuries that Newport are will mean Lenny Pidgeley (ankle), Jamie Stephens (groin) and Aaron O'Connor, he hadn't played all season, will be missing.

A knee injury just 30 minutes into his Fleetwood debut means that loan striker Bobby Grant is missing, for how long isn't yet known but the signs aren't looking good and he could be poised for a quick return to Blackpool.

David Ball (ankle) and Jeff Hughes (broken leg) are still out and Steven Schumacher could miss out due to his hip.

The Cod Army need to get back into form, the weekend draw was a start but with Newport one of those looking to track us down and take our play off spot we can ill afford to lose this one.

As things stand Newport are off the pace of the play offs but know victory over us tonight would leave them just four points off the play offs, a little further behind us, but with two games in hand on most so retaining an arms length gap between them and us makes a draw the minimum of requirements tonight.

If we're still harbouring automatic promotion we need to win really.
