Important Point For Roberts

Skipper Mark Roberts has said that the point gained against Newport County could well be important come the end of the season.

With the result meaning we failed to increase the gap over those below us by much, it was of course more of a result than a defeat and does keep that one game gap between us and Southend in play at least.

This was important for Roberts as he spoke to the Official Site as he looked to take the positives from the match.

'The lads really dug in and were really organised, we executed the game plan well and, on the day, could have come away with all three points. You don't know how important that point is going to be come the end of the season, though.'

Roberts goes on to say that the whole team have been hurting following our recent form and results, especially the Plymouth game but backing that up with two clean sheets he feels has shown a good response from the team and now simply put, we must build on it and get back to winning ways.

Automatic promotion may now well be a step too far, but with it still being mathematically possible it's something we shouldn't give up on, but there has to be a definite focus on solidifying our place in the play off positions now and getting back to winning ways.
