'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alexander Gutted At Full Time

Manager Graham Alexander has said he felt gutted at full time because in the game against Rochdale we did absolutely everything right other than score that all important goal.

Speaking to the Official Site in his after match press conference following the scoreless draw, the gaffer explained.

'I thought it was a game we could have won, we should of to be fair, we played really well, especially in the first half and we are disappointed. The lads are disappointed that they haven't won, but it's a point gained and we have to take that sort of performance in to every game that we have got until the end of the season, because if we do, we will pull ourselves into a great position.'

Our best chances of the day fell to Matty Blair and Antoni Sarcevic, but Rochdale had chances of their own such as Matt Lund's cheeky overhead kick that hit the post, but Alexander's frustration is that we didn't make more of our efforts as even though they had more chances he didn't feel two one in our favour based on the quality of our chances would've been far wrong.

'It was two good football teams that didn't want to give too much away but if anyone was going to win it, it was us.'

Alexander goes on to say that with Rochdale's position and points tally for them he felt it was more important not to lose than it was to win, and that played in our favour as much as it did against us, but when they attacked he felt we coped well but of course when we were on the ball they didn't have to overly push things so could sit back and make things tight for us and we did struggle to break them down as much as we would've liked.

The frustration for him was when we did get through we lacked the final ball, we were a bit too rushed and not composed enough and unfortunately that meant we wasted the opportunities we did have, but with that said there were certainly more positives than negatives coming out of the game and if again, we can replicate that, he has no concerns moving forward.
