'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alexander - We Deserve Wembley Place

Manager Graham Alexander was ecstatic at full time last night as Fleetwood secured their place in the League Two Play Off Final at Wembley.

A fist leg goal by Matty Blair over his former club was enough to see us through as last night's second leg finished goal less and speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer said he felt we fully deserved the victory over both legs with how we played and it's a just reward following on from the disappointment of missing out on the automatic play off spots over the course of the season.

'I think we deserve to go to the final because we were fourth placed team in the league. We've earned it over 180 minutes against York as well. The fans were fantastic, it was a special night, they were willing the team on with every touch and throw in. As a lad playing football these are the kind of moments you want to be involved in.'

Alexander goes on to say all credit to York because they came at us and gave it a really good effort to get back on level terms in the tie, and they certainly carried a threat coming into the play offs unbeaten in the last 17 matches but thankfully we just had that bit more about us.

'For a 0-0 it was end to end and a proper play off game, and York made it hard for us. We knew they were a good team. They were in the play offs for a reason and they put us under pressure. I thought the work rate of all the players when it came down to the crunch was fantastic.'

Moving forward now with our eyes on Wembley the gaffer says we'll simply prepare how we have prepared all season for games, because it's working for us. We'll do 'our normal stuff' and focus completely on the game as that's what they have to do and not the occasion and what it could mean for us, because it's 90 minutes again that matter and that's what we'll be going for, a proper performance and come out winners so then the occasion can be enjoyed.

Bet it's going to be a hell of a weekend first though!
