Schumacher Pleased With Partick Run Out

Midfielder Steven Schumacher has said he was delighted to get 90 minutes under his belt in our final friendly of the summer against Partick Thistle.

With Schumacher himself having the chance to put us ahead, speaking to the Official Site following the game, he said that he actually felt we probably should've been three or four clear by the half time break let alone full time, given the chances that we created on the day.

'The first half we were good, we pressurised them really well and created a lot of chances. I was disappointed at half time that we were not three or four up, because we had a number of good opportunities.'

He goes on to say that personally for him to get the full 90 with it being our last friendly before the League 1 campaign kicks off, was a good confidence boost and he feels he and the team are now ready for the challenge that lies ahead, starting with the opening day game against Crewe Alexandra.

'It's a new challenge and it's a level the club has never played at before. We have to take each game as it comes and we have to take the momentum and the attitude from last season which helped us win promotion.'

It's certainly going to be an interesting year as the club adjusts to life at this level and we're no doubt going to have some good times as well as bad, especially whilst we are finding our feet in League One, but ultimately survival is the aim and it doesn't matter hw we achieve that, we just have to stabilise ourselves at this level and anything on top of that for this season at least, is just a bonus.
