Referee:

Fleetwood got back into the promotion race, after a difficult end to 2013, when the New Year began and now we've moved back into the play-off positions thanks to the 1-0 win over Dagenham.

Actually we're unbeaten in 2014.

It was a first half that passed without too much goalmouth action but it was the Cod Army that certainly had the better of the half and few chances that came.

Jeff Hughes should've done better, or at least will feel that he should have, with the best effort of the half but his finish lacked the power to cause Chris Lewington any major problems in the Daggers goal.

The Daggers suffered a setback when the lost the services of the recently acquired loan signing from Reading Dominic Samuel. Injury forced him off and he had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

Half Time: Dagenham 0 Fleetwood 0

Dagenham came out in the second half and were much livelier with Zavon Hines, formerly with West Ham earlier in his career, showing that he could be a handful. He went close, as did Scott Doe.

Nathan Pond used all his experience to snuff out another Dagenham chance, with them now looking the more likely winner. Alan Goodall's mistake let in Rhys Murphy but a fine challenge from Pond prevented the danger.

The Cod Army really hadn't threatened much in the second half but when David Ball was able to turn and pick his spot Lewington's fingertips couldn't prevent the goal with a little over quarter of an hour to play.

We'd taken the lead, but could we see it out?

Dagenham were convinced that they'd equalised in the last minute, we were equally as convinced they'd not when Mark Roberts produced an acrobatic clearance off the goal line from Murphy and the officials agreed with us and said it hadn't crossed the line.

We'd done enough.

Seen some comments from their gaffer today saying our keeper and defender admitted it was over the line??? Missed that myself?

Know what you mean, if our players have been fair and admitted it was, that's nice but it's the ref's decision irrespective isn't it.
