Cod Army Report: Fleetwood 3 Bristol City 3

3 - 3
Bristol City

20/9/14 - 3:00pm

Attendance: 3,700

Fleetwood got back to goalscoring ways on Saturday, something that we've been desperately lacking in recent weeks, but uncharacteristically we also conceded quite a few goals.

A late goal did fortunately salvage us a 3-3 draw against Bristol City at Highbury though.

Josh Morris got things underway as he followed up an effort from Stephen Dobbie, that Derick Williams had blocked, to put us into the lead.

Having already been threatened by Kieran Agard, with Chris Maxwell pulling off one great save and another of his efforts flying just wide, he did equalise for Bristol City shortly after the Morris goal as he converted Joe Bryan's cross.

Minds hadn't switched on again after the break as within minutes Bristol City were ahead. Wade Elliott cleverly set up Luke Freeman with his cross to Aaron Wilbraham seeing Maxwell save to deny him but Agard followed up the rebound to score.

Bristol City quickly added a third, which they would have thought could have secured them a win, when Agard turned provider flicking on to Wilbraham, who wasn't denied this time.

Jamie Proctor made exactly the impact he was brought on to make when he scored within a minute of Graham Alexander turning to him when he headed home a Morris cross for a third goal of the game inside 15 minutes.

When Frank Fielding tipped over Conor McLaughlin's effort late in the game it looked like our chance had passed and we would extend our run without a win with another defeat but there would be another late twist.

Matty Hughes saw his effort blocked but Dobbie curled home a wonderful effort in the last minute to make sure that we earned a point.

If you had told me before the game that this League 1 meeting could end in a draw I could well have believed you, but if you said it would have been a 3-3 draw I'm not so sure that me reaction would have been the same.

A draw was something I was going to be happy with, I'm not so happy with three goals conceded but hopefully we've found our goalscoring touch again.
