Fleetwood 1-1 Preston (League 1)

1 - 1

Highbury Stadium

29/03/15; 2:15pm

Attendance: 5,110

Fleetwood grabbed a late, and great, equaliser against Preston on Sunday to see Graham Alexander deny his former side all three-points in their quest for automatic promotion in the one-one draw.

Our own chances of now making the play-off might have faded further but this was a good point at the Highbury Stadium against an inform, and very good, Preston side.

Preston went ahead early on when a Gallagher freekick was headed away by Pond but Johnson (9) was lurking around the edge of the area and he fired the back in and beyond Maxwell.

Beckford should have made it two but managed to gift the ball to Maxwell from just a few yards out, this, and other opportunities that the visitors had but didn't take came back to haunt them in the end with our equaliser coming with five-minutes left.

Hunter, after a long delay in play due to Preston's 'keeper Johnstone and defender Huntington colliding, passed to Ball (85) who produced a fine 25-yard lob, which ended up in the back off the net via the post to make it one-one.

In the end we might have even won it as both Hunter and Ball had even later chances but we have to be content with a point.
